December 4, 2014 (Washington, D.C.)
On Wednesday morning we were leaving NY. We woke up and walked a couple blocks to a breakfast joint named Evergreens. It was delicious, I had a big cinnamon roll with some fruit while my mom had Belgian Waffles. Shortly after we then walked to Penn Station where we took a train all the way to Washington, D.C.! We checked into our hotel room, then dropped off our bags, then headed to the SPY Museum. At the Spy Museum they showed some of the things our spies and other countries' spies used in the olden days like: the shoe as a transmitter and the cigarette pack as a camera. I thought it was interesting learning that there are actually real spies like in the movies.
That night we went to see my mom's friend Sandra who has two 4.5 year old kids and lives in Maryland.
This day was very busy. To start off the day we went to the US Capitol. At the Capitol we had a toured visit given by an intern from Senator Hatch's office. The US Capitol is very big. They even have an underground subway just to themselves. At the museum we first watched a short movie about the Capitol. After the movie we got to go to the Rotunda. In there they had statues and paintings. Therotunda is the big dome of the capital. Currently the dome si under construction because of cracks in it. Each state has two statues. Our two statues from Utah are of Brigham Young and the man who invented the television tube. At the Capitol we also got to see where the President is Inaugurated and what was supposed to be Washington's tomb below the dome, but he was buried at Mount Vernon his home instead. We went and watched the House of Representatives in a meeting. The meeting is televised so that the other Representatives can watch it from their offices. There are 435 Representatives throughout the Unite States. Currently Utah has 4 Representatives. The next session we watched was the Senate. Each State has two senators that serve six year terms. Our Senators are Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee.
For lunch we went to Union Station. There I got a delicious milkshake. Currently Union Station is under renovation. It is Washington D.C's oldest train station. We had to scurry out from lunch to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for there last tour. What they do there is make money. There are two places where there are dollar factories. Washington, D.C. and Texas. At this factory they make the $1, $2, $5, $20 bills. Each bill has to redesigned every 5-7 years except for the $1 bill. There is a law to keep the one dollar bill the same forever. I personally thought the $2 bill wasn't made any more. But only once every couple years do they print them.
We then walked over to the National Archives. On the way over we walked through the Smithsonian's Sculpture Garden. There were very famous sculptures in there. I liked one of the modern sculptures that looked like a metal tower made out of matchsticks.
At the National Archives we saw the Declaration of Independence which declared our independence from the British on July 4, 1776. We also saw the Constitution which was signed on Sept 17, 1787 and stated how our new government would be run. The Bill of Rights was there too, it was added to the Constitution to protect individual's rights in 1789. We also saw a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation that was signed by Abraham Lincoln in 1862, which freed the black slaves.
We went to dinner with my two uncles and their friend tonight at Hamilton's. The food was great and it was fun to see my uncles.

December 2, 2014 (New York City, NY)
Today we went to the 9-11 Museum and Memorial. It was good but sad to learn about our earlier history before I was born. In front of the museum they had two large inverted fountains that were in the outline of the Twin Towers. Around the fountains were all the names of people that were killed during 9-11. Recently they rebuilt a building in memory of the Twin Towers, it's name is Freedom Tower 1. Inside the museum they had ruins of the World Trade Centers including the stairs that the victims of 9-11 ran down, some of the support beams from under the World Trade Center and a fire truck. In one of the rooms they had pictures of all the victims that had been killed in 9-11 including my sister's friend's dad. We were able to read about him and hear a message from her to her father. During 9-11 there were almost 3000 victims that died during the World Trade Center attacks, the crashed hijacked plane, and the Pentagon crash. Through this terrible incident our country truly united.
In the afternoon we visited my mom's friend Marge who made us lunch and told us about her life long story since my mom hadn't seen her for 20 years. Marge was super nice lady that my mom went to high school in Maryland. While we were there she gave us some recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Later that afternoon we went to the IMAX theater in the Natural History Museum, the famous FAO Schwartz, the famous Apple Store on 5th Avenue and went to this great pizza joint where I had Saw-Seech pizza for dinner, which was really good. The IMAX we saw was about great white sharks. In the movie we saw where we actually went in South Africa! They showed the shark diving ship which we saw when in Hansbai. We were also able to walk around the Natural History Museum. We saw the animals of North America and the underwater sea life, including a massive Blue whale.

December 1, 2014 (New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York)
These past 2 weeks have been fun besides having Lyme disease. Last week I found out that I had Lyme disease! After coming home from Dubai my knee started swelling. We weren't sure what it was so we went to the Drs and got a blood test. After a couple days they said that I had Lyme disease. I got it from a tic in NH this past summer. I am now on antibiotics and will be for the next few weeks. On Saturday my knee started to go down, it was getting better and not as tight. I am so grateful that we found out that I had Lyme before it was too late and it couldn't be treated as well.
Our first part of our back east tour was New Hampshire. In NH we met up with our cousins and had Thanksgiving together. In NH we played ping pong, rode the RZR's in the meadow, and had Thanksgiving dinner. While we were in NH it snowed at least a foot and a half. I have never been to NH while it has snowed.
A couple days after we drove to Massachusetts. In MA we went to Plymouth, the Mayflower 2, Aunt Julie's birthday party, and stayed at Aunt Julie's, and Aunt MA's house. In Plymouth we first went to Plimouth Plantation where there was a reenactment and reconstruction of how the Wampanoag Native Americans and the Pilgrims from England lived. The English pilgrims first came to Massachusetts and established the first of the Northern colonies in 1620.
We observed Plymouth Rock which marks where the Mayflower landed. The Mayflower was the name of the ship that sailed from Plymouth, England to what became known as Plymouth, Massachusetts. Now in the harbor there is the Mayflower 2, which was made to be exactly like the first Mayflower. They sailed it in the 1950s from Plymouth to England. All 102 passengers on the Mayflower survived the voyage but then more than 50 people died once they arrived due to scurvy and other sicknesses. The first governor died and the second governor was William Bradford , who I am related to.
After lunch we went to the graveyard, Burial Hill, where William Bradford was buried and walked down the hill through where the original village had been built by the Pilgrims in 1621 to the water where the Mayflower 2 was docked. There were other monuments too that we saw that remembered Pilgrim women and men and one of the Indians that was famous for helping the new Americans.
A few days after we took a train to New York. In NYC we went to the MoMA. The MoMA is the Museum of Modern Art. At the Museum they had famous artist like Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. At night we went to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. It is my mom's favorite show. It was fun to see in NYC at Christmas with all the lights and decorations.
