The past week I spent time in Puerto Rico with my family. Our activities varied from jumping off a cliff in the rainforest to snorkeling off the shores of an abandoned island. We also walked beside an old military fort with dozens of kites flying beside us. To start the week we traveled to Fajardo where we took part in a spectacular hike that lead to sliding off a natural waterslide and bouncing into freezing cold waters. When I was at the top of the waterslide, all I could hear were people talking and the waterfall pounding onto the ground. The environment was incredibly lush and wet and the faint, sweet smell of the mist filled the air.
A few days after the river hike, I went on a zipline ran by the company Toro Verde. The zipline is the second longest in the world with Costa Rica ranking first. To Start we first did a big zipline tour which had eight ziplines. After all of those, I then zipped the “beast”, properly named the Beast because it is a mile long! As I was flying hundreds of feet in the air, I could see my cousin, Alex, also soaring above the massive island of Puerto Rico.
