November 7, 2014 (Abu Simbel, Egypt)

We had an early wake up call at 5:00 am this morning. We were going to Abu Simbel. We took a short flight over this morning on Egyptian Air. The temple was amazing! It was one of my most favorite temples I have been to in Egypt. It was a temple dedicated to King Ramses. It wasn't originally in the place where it is now. It was originally right next door. The temple is right next to the lake that flows into the Nile. The reason they had to move it was because this new Lake Nasser that was created by the High Dam would have put the temple under water.  They moved it by cutting the statues into pieces. The original temple was built into a mountain, so they also had to build an artificial mountain. On the front of the first Temple there were four sculptures of Ramses, which were very tall. And on the other temple there are four sculptures of Ramses and two of his wife. I loved it because the statues were very big and they had much detail.

We then flew back to Asswan where we would caught a flight to Cairo. When we to to Cairo we met our guide from Excel then went to the hotel. Later that night we had a snack then went swimming in the pool. We then watched Indiana Jones then went to bed.
