Today we weren't teaching but we were going to go play with the kids at the local park. As soon as we got to the school most of the kids were dressed in athletic outfits. They were able to do their opening exercises, and we said hello to all the kids before we made our walk to the park. The walk was short but just the right amount.
The park was a huge blocked off area from the city which included a big dirt field with 2 soccer goals. While we were at the park we played soccer, frisbee, red light green light, and other little games. Towards the end of our stay at the park we taught them about Halloween. We told them how people dress, knock on people's doors and ask for candy. We had all the kids come up and say, "trick or treat." If they said trick or treat we would give them a lollypop. At the end of the school day we said goodbye to the children and headed off back to home base.
I loved being with the kids for 2 weeks they were so fun. I will especially miss little Maggie who was super smart, has a cute little smile and is a happy little girl. William he was the "winker," a smart young boy who was one of the oldest. If I ever winked at him he would wink right back. I will miss a lot of the kids.
Later that day we said our goodbyes to Sammi, Jenna, Balent and Yvette, Sarah, Daniel, Mama Fatuma at CCS. We are going to meet Sammi and Jenna in Sydney, Australia when we are there. It will be fun to see them.
John took us to the airport. John is such a cool guy. He is a driver for CCS. We checked into Ethiopian Airlines where we would fly to Nirobi then to Cairo, Egypt. Everything was going well until they called us to the Check-in desk and said that the flight has been delayed and we would miss our flight to Cairo! The lady from Ethiopian airlines was then going put us on a flight with Turkish Airlines to Turkey then back to Cairo, 8 hours in the opposite direction! We then decided we would rather risk it but we couldn't because she already sold them to another person! So she then put us on a flight with Precision Airlines, but it was oversold! She then put us on a flight to Dar Es Salam where we would try to make a flight to Cairo. But then we decided to play it safe and get a earlier flight to Dar Es Salam through Fast Jet. When we finally made it to Dar Es Salam we were able to do our blogs and relax for a little before we got on the plane to Cairo. By the way there was no air-conditioning because the power was out in the airport so we kept going into the little store's for some air under 90! Our flight to Cairo boarded at 12:45 a.m. and was supposed to board at 1:45 a.m on Egypt Air. Which meant if we would have taken the other flight we would have missed our plane. It was a long day!
