It was a very busy day! After breakfast we hopped into the van and went straight to the pyramids. It was so amazing! The largest pyramid was built out of 3,000,000 stones! The pyramids were built even earlier than any of the temples we had been to. They were big tombs for the pharaohs of Egypt. They stopped building the pyramids it was too obvious to robbers that’s why the Valley of the Kings was hidden in the mountain and not out in the open. When we were at the pyramids we were able to go inside the second pyramid. It was so amazing to see where they put the body. Originally on the outside of the pyramids there was white limestone. The tomb inside was made out of granite, since it was stronger than the sandstone or limestone. The very top of the pyramid originally was topped with a gold cap.
Still at the pyramids we took a camel ride! It was so much fun. It was probably the highlight of my day. I didn’t realize how big they were until I saw one in person. I rode on one by myself while Sydney and Kendall went double and my parents went single as well as me.
Next we went to the Sphinx. It was cool. Going to the Sphinx we saw where they would mummify the dead pharaohs. They would take all the organs out from the body, including the brain, except for the heart. They would then put sand over the body for 41 days to dehydrate the body. Following, they would put oils all over the body to make it smell nice and be healthy for the after life. They also put on jewelry so they could be beautiful in the after life and were wrapped in linen, then put in their coffin. That one temple was only used for that one pharaoh.
Lunch was very good! Today we were eating lunch on a Nile cruise ship. My favorite part was the Pita like bread with the Zidziki sauce or the garlic cream cheese spread. It was more of a traditional meal.
We then went to the Bazaar again. This time at the Bazaar we bought something. We bought some metal lamps. Mine is an orange lamp that has a cool design on the outside with a lightbulb on the inside. Kendall also got some silver lamps for her college apartment. and so did Syd and Mom.
Later that night we went back to the Pyramids and did a light show. It was very amazing. They would project certain images onto the stones and talk about history of them.
Back at the hotel we got some dinner at the Japanese restaurant, settled in, then went to bed.
