June 10, 2015 (Neuschwanstein Castle/Hohenschwangau Castle, Germany)

Today we were touring Hohenschwangau Castle and Neuschwanstein Castle. The first castle we toured was the Hohenschwangau castle which was built by King Maximilian II in the 1800. The style for some reason back then was a Medieval style, both Hohenschwangau, and Neuschwanstien were built in that style.. They style was called Neo- Gothic. Hohenschwangau was much smaller and more humble in size  than Neuschwanstien. Hohenschwangau had a nice feel to it. One of the things I liked about the architecture and interior design were the turrets which gave the rooms more sunlight and a cozier feel. When we walked upstairs with our guide there was a billiards (pool) table which surprised me. Outside the castle they had beautiful bronze statues looking out over beautiful scenery.

Later on we walked through the forest to the Neuschwanstein Castle. Neuschwanstein was beautifully placed on a mountain and has pretty green and misty scenery behind it. It looked like a fairytale. The most beautiful room we visited in my opinion was the Opera room. The room was colorful and had a tropical vibe to it.  Unfortunately King Ludwig II didn't have one concert in it. He died before the castle was finished. The king's bed frame had a very detailed gothic wood carving on top of it that was creepy but really rad. The carving were like little sky scrapers coming up from the bed frame. King Ludwig II only lived in the castle for 6 weeks, because he died on a boat when he was 40.

Following the tour of the Neuschwanstein castle we walked up to the  bridge behind the castle. From the bridge there was a spectacular view of the Neuschwanstein Castle from hundreds of feet above ground! There we took some great pictures before walking all of the way back to the hotel.

For some time I spent in the room partly watching the Erzberg Rodeo on my computer. We ate dinner at a restaurant right near a lake. The scenery was superb! The water was a shade of green with mountains around it and mist in the distance. It reminded me of New Zealand.

When we came back from our dinner we chilled, did our blogs, and got a good nights sleep for the next day.
