We were back with Kendall! We were also just staying in Krakow for the entire day. That day we had seen an awesome street performer which was a man rubbing his fingers across loads of drinking glasses to make music! Mom absolutely loved it, and it reminded us of Miss Congeniality. That day we also visited the cathedral in the old town square. It had a beautiful ceiling that was a bright blue color with gold stars and the historical and gilded alter piece. A lot of the cathedrals in Europe are very cool, unique, and interesting.
Another place we visited was the castle in Krakow. To get there we took a horse carriage which was fun and fancy. We only visited the cathedral and the dragon cave. The cathedral was Indiana Jones like with the tombs and cabana looking thing in the middle. In one of the rooms of the cathedral there was a painting of Jesus Christ which was the original or copy (don't know) but it was a famous painting that many Polish people have a copy of. The dragon of the cave was a myth in the medieval time of a dragon who would eat people of the city, then one day a royal man's woman was eaten so the royal man went out of his way to poison and kill the dragon. When you walk into the entrance of the cave you walk down several floors on a windy stair case to a cave underground. It was really cool under there. It was chilly in the dark rock mythical cave. When we walked out a little bit later the statue of the dragon spit fire out of its mouth, it was awesome!
We then took off in a golf cart taxi/ tour cart to the Schindler's factory, which is now a museum. Schindler was part of the Nazi party but was loved by the Jews for his service. He helped the Jews by keeping them out of Aaucshwitz camp by having them . He even moved the factory to another city and all 1200 of the workers with him to the new factory to keep them safe. He also was a fine boss since he also fed them well and treat them well. The museum seemed very large! Schindler saved twelve hundred of the people from being killed in concentration camps like the one in Krakow and Auschwitz. Schindler was recognized in Israel and was given the Nobel Peace prize.
Next, we took a golf cart taxi/tour cart over to the Old Town where we were going to rent Segways, but they didn't just rent them to people and the next Segway tour was tomorrow. Luckily which was a even better activity was a buggy rental #jazzy! It was basically a jazzy but way more fun and way faster than expected. We cruised around town on our jazzys. The cobble stone road got really bumpy though. I really liked going through the park on our jazzys, on the turns, bridge and others.
That night we ate dinner and listened to a strings concert in a church. It sounded very good, and the acoustics in these churches are pretty great. They played songs from very famous composers, such as Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven,... When we arrived back at the room we hung in the hotel for the rest of the night until the morning. We are now leaving for Warsaw.
Underneath the Wawel Castle in the Dragon's cave. They believed there was a dragon that lived below the castle who would eat people and the Prince that lived here poisoned the dragon.
Visited the WWII museum in what was the old Schindler's Enamel Factory where around 1200 Jews worked and so they lived and survived the war
Schindler's office with pieces of enamel that were made here
Schindler's List- the names of all those that worked for him and who he protected in his factory which he had to move from here to another city to keep them protected. He was responsible for saving 1200 Jews and was buried in Israel by "his children."
The altar inside St Mary's Cathedral that had once been taken by the Germans and then found in Nuremburg and then returned and repaired and placed back here.
Outside the Dragon's Cave at Wawel Castle
Going into Schindler's Enamel Factory which is now a Museum for the History of Krakow
