June 4, 2015 (Autostadt: Wolfsburg, Germany)

We had an early wake up call this morning to go pick up our car for another road trip, this time across Germany. We were in a Mercedes CLA 350 diesel. Our first destination on our road trip was VW Autostadt. The Autostadt was where Volkswagen showcases and people pick up their cars. When we were trying to get there we were entering into the factory and a man had to redirect us. When we arrived we didn't realize that The Ritz Carlton was in Autostadt! At the hotel we were greeted and shown to our room and a restaurant where we ate lunch. The Ritz Carlton was modern but pretty and had really nice staff.

When we toured Autostadt we had a tour and the first place we visited was the car silo where the ready cars are stored. They move the cars into the silo by a lift that takes the cars up and down through the silo, it is the fastest in the world. We visited three Volkswagen buildings and other car company buildings owned by VW, such as Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bugatti. My favorite one we visited was the Audi Pavilion. where they had many different cars we could sit in such as the RS6 and R8. Along with the self guided tour we had an electronic card that we could use like a key that got us into other exhibits.

Moms favorite was the Bugatti Pavillion where there was only one car but it was a mirrored car and same with some of the walls. The engine is a 1001 horsepower W16 and was in the rear of the car.

In the afternoon we went on a tour of the VW plant and watched robots and some of the 25,000 workers that assemble four of the VW series there. We saw the machines shape the sheet metal, install engines and dashboards and then workers assemble smaller parts and inspect the final cars. When we left our guide gave me a model of the Up car that VW makes, which we don't have in the US. It was a very interesting tour, mom and I both liked it.

After saying goodbye to a few of the hotel staff we set out on the Autobahn  to the bird park. On the way there we drove at around 137 mph since there is sometimes no speed limit on the Autobahn. When we arrived at the hotel in Walsrode we were literally right across from the Weltvogel Park Bird Park. There was even a bridge crossing from the hotel to the park.

I stayed in the room for the rest of the night chilling and writing my blogs. I am so exited for the Bird Park!
