The beginning of the day started with us getting breakfast in our room and then walking over to surf lessons. This time it was just me and Dennis, my instructor. Instead of a soft board I was on a long hard board which was less stable but more maneuverable and fast. The waves were better than yesterday but it was rough getting crashed by the waves. Surfing got fun when I was up on the board, stable, and able to lean a little and able to turn a little while on a big enough wave.
Back at Hotel Tugu I did my blog and swam by the pool. For lunch we had some staff take us over on their scooters to Deus’s. I liked having a local scooter experience in Bali. It was our third day in a row at Deus’s. From there Made picked us up and we drove to a temple along the ocean. The temple was named Pura Tahah Lot and it sat on a mini island just a few hundred feet away from land. We kept driving and reached Uluwatu. Uluwatu is known for surfing like where we were staying in Canguu. To get to the famous surf spot there you have to walk through some monkeys and walk down some stairs through a slot in the rocks. When we were there they didn’t have very big waves because it was at low tide.
Moving on we drove to another temple which was also by the water’s edge on a cliff on the South Western Coast of Bali. I had to take off my glassed because Made said that the monkeys might jump on me and take my glasses. He said that he also had a Singaporean group with him and a monkey jumped on a person and grabbed his glassed and cut him on the face! We didn’t go all the way to the peak of the cliff but we did take many pictures by the cliff’s edge.
We saw a show near the temple which had a view of the sky looking over the sea. The show was a Balinese traditional dance with a little modern flare. My favorite part of it was seeing a white monkey kick the fireballs up and over the fence of the auditorium. We had a long drive back to Hotel Tugu. We were only there for one last night before we went to Singapore.
She showed us how to make these fans
