Woken up, we walked up to breakfast and got something to eat. I had some delicious waffles and a fine crepe. After breakfast we were picked up by Made and brought to a river rafting shop. Once we were signed up for river rafting we got our clothes on then jumped in a truck for a ride to the river. When we arrived, we had a hike to the river in my flip-flops which was a steep hike. After finally arriving we had to wait some more before getting in the raft. In the raft the guide talked over a "safety"briefing then we were off. During the ride there were bumps, drops, splashes, and even a person fell out of the raft. It was really fun. Some things we came across were boulders and a waterfall which we swam in.
After finishing our rafting we walked up steep steps to the truck who took us back to the shop. At the shop we ate lunch then drove over to the ATV shop where we rode ATVs though the jungle. I greatly enjoyed it. My ATV was more powerful than expected and I am glad it was! As soon as we started I got used to the vehicle then we were off. My ATV also looked like it was on its last leg, with broken plastic in the front and dirt all over it. When we were riding we were able to do a couple laps around a mud pond while sometimes sliding around in frothy brown water. For the rest of the time we rode our ATV's around a rural neighborhood and up and down steep hills through the trees of the forest.
After motoring through the jungle on ATV's we had a quick snack then drove to the Monkey Forest near Ubud. Walking into the Monkey Forest there was a lady selling bananas for the monkeys so after watching some people we decided to do it. I went first. The first time I did it I was looking for a monkey to feed and all of a sudden one of the BIGGEST monkeys decided to leap on my back, climb up me and snatch the banana! But it got better! When Mom did it, the monkey leaped on her grabbed the banana and it was fine, until the monkey decided to stay there and just before the monkey hopped off, the monkey slapped her in the face! Continuing onto the rest of the forest we came across a holy spring, monkey statues, a HUGE Banyan tree and a funeral temple. Fact about the monkeys is that in the Hindu religion their gods have monkeys and dragons as pets.
Back at the hotel we ordered room service and got dressed for the shadow puppet show. The Shadow Puppet Shows are traditional form of entertainment that uses a flame and a cloth screen and flat metal puppets and metal instruments. We only watched part of it because me and mom, especially mom, couldn't handle all the banging music. I thought what was most interesting was watching the puppeteer, helpers and musicians from behind the lit screen.
