The day started off with a surf session with Allie, Riley and Klane. Today's waves were much bigger than yesterdays and not as easy to catch. Even though the waves were harder to catch then yesterday I still got up sometimes. The water was warm, not too blue but clearish. The bottom of the sandy floor was completely sandy no rocks, coral or anything which made it nicer.
On the road to Rosales we didn't arrive at our desired time but still got there to see Riley's apartment and friends. Literally right next door to Riley's apartment was the cock fight arena where they would fight chickens to the death. There they also bred the chickens for the cock fights, there were dozens and dozens.
We kept driving over to Riley's friends house. Living at the house were two twins in their 30s who were dancers and cross stitchers and a friend that does laundry to make her living, including the missionaries' laundry. After the dancers gave us a demo we hopped in a kaliglig (RICE ROCKET) and took a tour of the neighborhood. A kaliglig is kind of an engine and two wheels hooked to it connected in the back to a carriage that it is pulling. It is usually used for the rice fields to transport rice but we were using it as a shuttle bus. On the kaliglig we stopped by some water buffalo because Riley wanted to ride one. The first was aggressive and the second one was unpredictable and the third one was standing in the water canal so that Riley could hop on the buffalo and seemed easier but the water buffalo sat down in the canal and he would have been completely covered.
Moving on we stopped by a place where there was a metal bridge that I could walk across. It wasn't totally a bridge but it was kindof and had two metal beams that I could walk across. Our next stop was at the rice paddies. The rice fields were huge and green and had a great view of the whole area.
Our final stop was the trike stop. Mom, Riley, Allie and I were able to drive the trike down the street and back. A tricycle is a motorcycle with a carriage on the side that can fit two little people. The trike wasn't what I was expecting. It was wobbly and instead of shifting up to go up a gear you had to push down to go up a gear. The guy that let us drive the trike was a friend of Riley's from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints there in Rosales. It was a good opportunity to ride a trike. I will never probably never be able drive one again.
We took everybody to a fast food restaurant which was American. And even American fast food restaurants had rice had on the side, like every meal in the Philippines including breakfast, lunch and dinner. From there we headed on a long route to Manila. It took us many hours to get to the Marriott Hotel. Once we were there we had a big buffet in honor of Chinese New Year.
