February 14, 2015 (Manila to Baguio, Phillipines)

The day began with going down to breakfast in the lounge. Instead of an omelette bar they had a quesadilla bar. Philippines used to be Spanish for 333 years and maybe that’s why they are serving quesadillas? All of then hopped into our rented white van. We started driving in the crazy Manila traffic all the way to the temple which was only about 7 miles away but it took us nearly two grueling hours to get there! The driver was mom, and the navigator was Allie/Riley.

Arrived at the temple we went straight inside after taking a few pictures. The Manila LDS Temple was still in a city but wasn’t squished between two buildings and instead it had a green lawn and flowers and open spaces. Right next door is the second largest LDS MTC (Mission Training Center) in the world, Provo is the largest. I liked this temple experience since we were with our friends and family.

We were back on the road again. Slowly moving through the Manila traffic we finally got onto some open roads after a couple of hours. Just leaving the Manila traffic I started a time lapse on my Gopro  which in the end unfortunately totally didn’t work out. On the drive out we saw rice fields like Bali, and mountains in the distance.  On the way we walked through some towns and were able to walk by a parade that was going on. Instead of taxis in some of the towns there were trikes, motorcycle trikes. It was a motorcycle that had a carriage on the side and I even saw one with a plastic chair on the back of the carriage hanging off!

When night arrived we had to climb up this STEEP mountain up to Baguio. Finally at the hotel after getting lost once we ordered some mediocre room service and surfed the tv in bed. Mom did great driving a stick shift all the way to Baguio for 7 hours.
