It was our last day on Heron Island. To be honest I was ready to get off the tiny island and get back to the big island, Australia.
Finished with breakfast we traveled over to the sea shore where we snorkeled. We snorkeled instead of scuba diving because if you fly within 12-18 hours of your scuba dive you will get an illness named Nitrogen Narcosis. On our snorkel we didn't see too many things but we did see rays, which were again really scary just like yesterday. Also on our snorkel we saw colored coral and starfish, which I picked up. When we finished our snorkel we were able to eat lunch and watch Super Bowl XLIX. It was cool to see that I was watching it in the middle of nowhere and Dad was watching the game in person in Arizona.
After finishing one of my blogs I walked over to reception to get Mom, she was there and she told me that the sea plane that was taking us to land was broken! So Mom spent several hours trying to work stuff out and finally got a plan that would take us to Brisbane. Later when all the planning was finished a rickety helicopter came and picked us up and gently brought us gently to the Gladstone airport. During our landing our pilot literally flew across the runway and landed in a concrete circle which wasn't even a heli pad that was just near the airport. Landed we rushed to the checkin and we barely squeezed into the flight before it left. On the plane there was basically no one: two girls working at a club in Gladstone, a nice engineer, Mom, and I. It was great! It was great to basically have our own private prop plane with at least twenty rows all to ourselves. As soon as we got off the plane we collected our bags and scurried to the train, then off the train into a taxi to the Marriott. Our taxi driver was supposedly new to Brisbane and taxi driving. We were the taxi drivers second customer!
When we arrived at our room I took a bath, did my blog, and went to bed.

Sam- This sounds like another exciting day for you and your mom! You are becoming such a good writer. I enjoy reading about your adventures.
ReplyDeleteWe liked Brisbane, especially going to the fake beach on bikes. Did you find that?
Take care, Janna
