October 21, 2014 (Moshi, Tanzania)

Breakfast was quick but good! I had a plane egg/crepe and a piece of toast with NUTELA! Today we had a short breakfast because we needed to go to our Step Up school. When we arrived the children greeted us again with a song. Today we were teaching our own lesson instead of observing and doing little things. Today we taught the bigger kids rather than the little guys. For our lesson we did math bingo. We would write two numbers on the board and they would have to add it to find the bingo number. We also taught them "Bingo Was His Name O". At the beginning it was going really well but then towards the end with the little kids it got a little bit harder for us. The kids were smart though. For the little kids we also taught them "Bingo Was His Name O" and Bingo but a different kind of bingo. Instead of mathematics we did letters and single numbers. It was hard with the little kids because they didn't  know a lot. During Dismissal it was kind of chaos- everyone was so hyper. It was a learning first teaching day.

For lunch we had fish and mangos. Both the fish and mangos were delicious. Especially the mangos! After lunch we played a game, Spot It. It is a mind teaser. Shortly after we hopped in the van and went to an orphanage which was 30 minutes away. But first we went to a petrol station and got some goods for the orphanage. When we were at the orphanage we sang some songs in Swahili. At the orphanage they had lots of animals: goats, cattle, chickens, chicks, ducks, dogs, and puppies. During the tour we played soccer and threw the Frisbee. At the end we played a real soccer match. The local men were very good! The final score was 3-3. When we got back to the orphanage we had chill time and did work for the school lesson tomorrow. Shortly after, we had dinner. I had chicken, rice, and pineapple. We later did more work, then settled down and went to bed.
