October 24, 2014 (Ngorngoro Crater, Tanzania)

Friday was a busy but exciting day. Today we were teaching about body parts. Our lessons started from having them go over the colors of the rainbow from yesterday and the Rainbow song. Then we went over the parts of the body having the kids match the word to the body part from each body part card on the chalk boardcard., We also played Simon Says with the body parts. The songs we did: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and the Hokey Pokey. Everything went pretty well today. The best any of our lessons have gone so far. During dismissal we got to play with the older kids and the younger kids. It was fun. I told one of the kids to grab onto one of my arms and I would lift them up. Then all of a sudden it caught on and lots of the kids wanted to do it. It got harder with the older kids.

When we got back we had lunch then after we played cards with the college kids, I Doubt It. Around 2 p.m. we had the tour company Pristine pick us up and take us on our safari. For the weekend we were going on safari to the Crater and another National Park. It was around 4 hour trek to the Crater where we would be staying. I loved the hotel we were at. It was the best lodge we have stayed at yet. It had the nicest rooms they were luxurious vintage African. It also had a fireplace, a tub, and a heated comforter.

When we got there I took a bath then all of a sudden my mom called me to get dressed and head outside. I wasn’t sure why but the Masai (a famous tribe in Kenya and Tanzania) were dancing outside. It was so very cool to see them. We were able to see them jump, sing and dance. The men were skinny and tall but could jump very high. The women wore these big beaded necklaces that they would make bounce during the singing. After we then had dinner. It was very good. I had chicken breast. It was pretty good, but I didn’t have a lot of it. During dinner we had entertainment with dancing and singing by the staff.

After dinner we had one of the Masai security guys take us to our room since there were buffalos which were visible outside. When we got back to our room, we did our blog and went to bed.
