October 3, 2014 (Harare to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe)

This morning we had a early rise. When I woke up we instantly got our clothes on and drove to the airport. But first we had to drop off Rachel’s kids off at school. After we dropped the kids off Rachel starting driving like a rally car driver, trying to get us to the airport on time. She said she wanted to be in the Dakar Rally one day. I believe her! She even went offloading by the highway, it was really fun. At the airport it was completely vacant. No lines for security, no lines for anything, just getting on the plane. After our hour flight we had a tour guide pick us up at the airport. His name was Ndad. He was the nicest tour guide ever. He took us to where Zimbabwe and Zambia meet. When we were there we took a hipline from Zambia to Zimbabwe. It was so amazing to go over the Zambezi River hundreds of feet up. Shortly after he took us to the Zimbabwe Victoria Falls Reserve. There we had lunch. During lunch we watched Vervet Monkeys climb all over the place.

Ndad guided us to Victoria Falls. It was a 2 mile walk all the way around the Victoria Falls walk. It was so beautiful, even though it wasn’t the wet season. There were 16 different viewing points. Victoria Falls falls into a huge gorge. There were Devil’s Cataract, the main falls and other viewing points. Victoria Falls is the tallest falls in all the world. It is taller and wider than Niagara Falls. But Niagara Falls has more water flow. It is 351 feet tall. There was a fall named Raninbow Falls. When you looked at it there was a slight rainbow coming out of it, caused by the mist and it’s reflection.

That evening we got dressed up for dinner at Jungle Junction which was next door to The Victoria Falls Hotel. It was a buffet. It was so delicious! My favorite food at Jungle Junction was the sushi. It was divine! During dinner there was show. People were dressed up in the Mkhishi masks and dancing. The Mkhishi’s are a Zimbabwean tribe. When we got back we were so tired we went straight to bed!
