October 8, 2014 (Okavango Delta, Botswana)

When I woke up my Mom told me to get my clean clothes on, we had a game drive to catch. When we were in the truck we met our guide Six, he is hilarious. We saw: Elephants, Baboons, Mongoose, Birds, Hippos, Crocodile, Buffalo, and Vervet Monkeys. During our stop at the bathroom’s with the other groups, I was able to watch one of the Vervet monkeys jump up on a woman an inch from her face! A little after we went on a Namibian village tour. John our guide took us to Namibia by boat on the Chobe River, Namibia is right across the river from Kasane, Botswana where we were staying.

Our Namibian village tour was guided by a man named John that lived in the township that we toured. As we were on the tour he taught us about how they live. They live in groups sorted by their families. They dig holes in the sand deep enough to get water because they have no running water. The walls of the mud huts that they live in are made from mud and Elephant dung to keep the ants away. And the women’s baskets are made from a bush, which then gets dipped in some sort of dye, which can even be from a piece of rusty metal soaked in water.

Later we went on a sunset cruise with Six. When we were on the cruise we saw at least a hundred elephants! And we were also able to see them go in the water again. We saw: Crocodile, Hippo, Warthogs, Birds, and Elephant. There was also a fantastic sunset!

Later we went home to Cornelia’s and had family home evening and celebrated a Boaho’s birthday, a girl we had met at church, with a lot of the kids that come to church. We had a lesson about prayer and then for our activity we played games like “Big Booty” and Uno and Signs. It was fun to be with them. Shortly after we took them back to there homes and then I took a shower and went to bed.
